After
years of childhood art awards, sculpture became Jeanne's passion
at 15 with her first stone and wood carving high school projects.
She next received a BFA in figurative sculpture and watercolor
and studied in France at the École des Beaux Arts. That training
along with years of experience as a commercial designer and
illustrator helped form her style, technique and sensibilities
into the talented artist she is today.
Watercolor:
"Natural and manmade objects in unexpected encounters
continually draw my attention and spark my imagination. Beauty,
peacefulness and a connection to life's inner forces create
scenes that I can hope to lead others to experience. These
qualities motivate me to explore new subject matter and techniques
as I evolve as an artist."
Sculpture:
"The
challenge for me is turning forms in space and the play of
light on them
giving
them believable, 'expansive form' as Rodin called it. Figures
express such universal, archetypal concepts that they are
tireless subjects
metaphors for life's experiences. I've
focused on the inner strength, nobility of creatures expressed
through their gestures and physical form."
Education: BFA (magna cum laude) in figure sculpture & watercolor from
the University of New Hampshire. Studied at École des Beaux
Arts, St. Etienne, France. Various workshops with Master Artists
over the years.
